Macabi Tel Aviv – Besiktas

Today at 20:00 The israeli soccer team Macabi Tel Aviv will play against the turkish team of besiktas.

As surreal as it may sound, in the midst of Mr. Arduan’s little “war against Israel”, an Israeli team will play against a Turkish team and if all goes well, and the game will run as a football game should it would be a great win both for sports and for freedom.

It doesn’t really matter who wins and who looses, the games shows the Turkish prime minister that no one want’s this situation, we (people throughout the middle east region) are tired of war, threats, tension and fights! The only fight we care to participate in is the one that involves sports and where no one really gets hurt (except for sport injuries :) ).

I really do hope to see the game today and I hope it will be a great game, Macabi Tel Aviv’s trip to Turkey wen through smoothly except for some opportunistic radicals who demonstrated in front of Macabi’s hotel in Turkey although both teams – players and coaches repeatedly stated that they don’t care about politics and they will not answer any politic-nature questions, those few opportunistic miserable people still tried to create mayhem and maybe get some headlines – gladly – it did not happen.

Have a great game Macabi & besiktas!

Turkey is in over it’s head

The past couple of weeks have been a stand up comedy show by the Turkish government.

Turkey’s prime minister Arduan was going in public trying to show some muscles, asking Israel to apologize for it’s actions in the ship convoy where 9 terrorists were killed by the IDF trying to invade Israel.

Arduan claims that the convoy was peaceful and that the IDF is acting like a bully in the Mediterranean sea and that the siege on the Gaza strip should stop.

Even though the Palmer report show’s that the siege is legitimate and I am quite sure Turkey would have act the same under the circumstances, Arduan and his Turkish government insist that Israel will be on it’s knees asking for forgiveness.

We’ll mister Arduan, I guess you are not familiar with Israel and you’re own people – enough so here are some question for – maybe you can find some logic and answer – mainly yourself:

  1. There is no war between Turkey and Israel, why are you trying to cause one?Turkey and Israel were the best allies in the middle east, including economic treaties, military treaties, tourism was flourishing and so were businesses, so why are you trying to start a war?how would Turkey behave if Israel would send ships to Turkish shores, which are suspected to carry weapons for rebels and terrorists inside Turkey?
I am quite sure those ships would get sunk faster then you can say Arduan…
  2. I would really like to know what does Mr. Arduan expect to happen next? Does he really expect Israel to apologize? Does he want war? Does he want to show his people that he has “the power” to command the Israeli prime minister? Think logically – none of Arduan’s demands will happen in real life, the best he can achieve ( maybe that’s what he want) is a burning middle east.
  3. If aiding the Palestinians is really Arduans goal, why doesn’t he send them supplies through the Israeli authorities who are more then willing to convey those supplies to the Palestinian?
  4. Talking about other countries is easy, sounding humane when it comes to other people is even easier, what about the Armenian genocide that Turkey was responsible to? Did everybody forget that? Did Arduan forget that?

Any one observing Arduan’s behavior can easily see similarity to a child wanting other children toys and when he wont be able to get them’ he’ll start crying – we hope it wont be too late to back down.

Stories and tales about israeli injustice are heard from Arduan’s mouth everyday now, and it seems that he doesn’t have a lot to say since Israeli prime minister Mr. Binyamin Netanyahu is completely ignoring him and his demands (quite rightfully) it makes Arduan seem like the boy who screams to mommy….

Perhaps, If Arduan was such a peace loving person, perhaps he should have not allowed those ships to go out on the convoy which was bound to end as it did, perhaps he should have tried diplomacy back then – before he sent those ships to create the provocation that they did.

Israel never refused humanitarian support or aid to anyone, on the contrary, it was the first to send aid to any catastrophy on the planet – Including the last earthquake in Turkey which left so many dead and many more with no roof over their heads – The rescue and recovery crews were composed mainly out of Israeli people and requirement.

Protest against Israel raid on The ships convoy

Well, nothing we havent seen before, but I would guess educated people should know what’s going on by now. The Ships came to Israel to achieve one of two goals:

To  deliver weapons and armaments to Gaza and the Hamas to be used against Israeli Civilians and if that doesn’t work (which it didn’t) they will create a provocation and get the UN and others to support them while they do their “doggy face” asking “What did we want? to deliver food and medical supplies to Gaza?!?!”

Well we in Israel don’t really pay attention to such allegations and the Israeli operation to stop those ships was legitimate just as any country has the right to secure it’s borders and keep it’s civilians safe. The UN stopped being neutral long ago and instead of dealing with burning issues such as the Iranian nuclear weapons plan it helps terrorists with their plans so they condemned Israel – big deal – nothing new.

With regards to the protests in Arab countries – thats so funny to me, they took mock up bodies, wrapped them in Palestinian and Turkish flags as if there were real bodies inside, just think about what they did in the last conflict with Hizbollah when we saw such sights on the TV.

Turkey , surprisingly, is leading the incitement against Israel, taking into consideration that much of Turkey’s tourism is based on Israeli tourists I’d say Turkey is shooting itself in the foot, not to mention the Muslim mob growing inside the Turkish country, so the Israeli ministry of foreign affairs issued a warning for Israelis traveling to Turkey saying: “Israelis are not safe in Turkey today…”. I wouldn’t go there even if they paid me money to go, after the riots in during a basketball game with an Israeli team it simply shows they have respect for nothing at all – not even sports.

To sum it all – nothing is new under the sun, I’m glad Israel stopped those ships and I would have been happier if it would have done so ever more harshly then it did!

Well Today as you may have noticed I did not have the time to write a morning update so I am not avoiding my duties and today’s update will be an evening update.

A rather stormy evening here in Israel (21C is cold here ;) ) a bit of rain, lots of wind and the wind chimes outside are making that beautiful music….God I love winter time!

Before the news – here are some photos from today:

On to the news and of course – my thoughts!

An article on an Israeli website (quite a respectable one might I add…) says “Turkey is getting closer to Iran in it’s policy then to Israel” which is supposedly quoted by a high ranking security source. Here’s what I think: Whats new? It’s been there the whole time, we just didn’t want to see it. Not to suggest Turkey is walking in Iran’s path but I have always felt the people on the street are not so fond of the west and Israel especially, you’d have to be stupid to think otherwise after an Israeli basketball team was almost lynched on the basketball court in Turkey while the IDF was fighting the terrorists in the Gaza strip.

That’s exactly the difference between ignorant people and enlightened people (not suggesting neither is ignorant) ignorant people don’t think – they act believing their acts will improve things, enlightened people think of the consequences before they act in order to benefit as much as possible from any situation – even the worse ones.

One more thing to admire: The pope Benedictus the 16th has visited the great synagogue in Rome in his ongoing efforts to get Jewish and Catholics together. I think if more people especially religious people would act like the pope, this world would really be a better place to live in, what have we fot if not each other? Say a disaster strikes (such as the one we witness in Haiti these days, do you think anyone will care what religion you are if you help them? That’s the whole point of religion, to be a better person, to help other people and not take life for granted for everything everywhere has its purpose!
