Macabi Tel Aviv – Besiktas

Today at 20:00 The israeli soccer team Macabi Tel Aviv will play against the turkish team of besiktas.

As surreal as it may sound, in the midst of Mr. Arduan’s little “war against Israel”, an Israeli team will play against a Turkish team and if all goes well, and the game will run as a football game should it would be a great win both for sports and for freedom.

It doesn’t really matter who wins and who looses, the games shows the Turkish prime minister that no one want’s this situation, we (people throughout the middle east region) are tired of war, threats, tension and fights! The only fight we care to participate in is the one that involves sports and where no one really gets hurt (except for sport injuries :) ).

I really do hope to see the game today and I hope it will be a great game, Macabi Tel Aviv’s trip to Turkey wen through smoothly except for some opportunistic radicals who demonstrated in front of Macabi’s hotel in Turkey although both teams – players and coaches repeatedly stated that they don’t care about politics and they will not answer any politic-nature questions, those few opportunistic miserable people still tried to create mayhem and maybe get some headlines – gladly – it did not happen.

Have a great game Macabi & besiktas!

Turkey is in over it’s head

The past couple of weeks have been a stand up comedy show by the Turkish government.

Turkey’s prime minister Arduan was going in public trying to show some muscles, asking Israel to apologize for it’s actions in the ship convoy where 9 terrorists were killed by the IDF trying to invade Israel.

Arduan claims that the convoy was peaceful and that the IDF is acting like a bully in the Mediterranean sea and that the siege on the Gaza strip should stop.

Even though the Palmer report show’s that the siege is legitimate and I am quite sure Turkey would have act the same under the circumstances, Arduan and his Turkish government insist that Israel will be on it’s knees asking for forgiveness.

We’ll mister Arduan, I guess you are not familiar with Israel and you’re own people – enough so here are some question for – maybe you can find some logic and answer – mainly yourself:

  1. There is no war between Turkey and Israel, why are you trying to cause one?Turkey and Israel were the best allies in the middle east, including economic treaties, military treaties, tourism was flourishing and so were businesses, so why are you trying to start a war?how would Turkey behave if Israel would send ships to Turkish shores, which are suspected to carry weapons for rebels and terrorists inside Turkey?
I am quite sure those ships would get sunk faster then you can say Arduan…
  2. I would really like to know what does Mr. Arduan expect to happen next? Does he really expect Israel to apologize? Does he want war? Does he want to show his people that he has “the power” to command the Israeli prime minister? Think logically – none of Arduan’s demands will happen in real life, the best he can achieve ( maybe that’s what he want) is a burning middle east.
  3. If aiding the Palestinians is really Arduans goal, why doesn’t he send them supplies through the Israeli authorities who are more then willing to convey those supplies to the Palestinian?
  4. Talking about other countries is easy, sounding humane when it comes to other people is even easier, what about the Armenian genocide that Turkey was responsible to? Did everybody forget that? Did Arduan forget that?

Any one observing Arduan’s behavior can easily see similarity to a child wanting other children toys and when he wont be able to get them’ he’ll start crying – we hope it wont be too late to back down.

Stories and tales about israeli injustice are heard from Arduan’s mouth everyday now, and it seems that he doesn’t have a lot to say since Israeli prime minister Mr. Binyamin Netanyahu is completely ignoring him and his demands (quite rightfully) it makes Arduan seem like the boy who screams to mommy….

Perhaps, If Arduan was such a peace loving person, perhaps he should have not allowed those ships to go out on the convoy which was bound to end as it did, perhaps he should have tried diplomacy back then – before he sent those ships to create the provocation that they did.

Israel never refused humanitarian support or aid to anyone, on the contrary, it was the first to send aid to any catastrophy on the planet – Including the last earthquake in Turkey which left so many dead and many more with no roof over their heads – The rescue and recovery crews were composed mainly out of Israeli people and requirement.

Sara’s trip to the middle east…

I have just finished reading a well written post from a Student on the University of Oregon who had come to Israel on a trip visiting the holy places in Israel as part of what I understood to be an educational trip. As always, I would like to post my opinions on the matter, I will of course post a reply in her blog as part of my reference to her story, but I’m afraid what I have to say will not fit in the tiny comment box so’ I’ll write here.

Sara tells about a wonderful and moving visit to Israel and the west bank where she met Arab students which moved here emotionally with their current regime and government stories, indeed the situation in both the West bank and the Gaza strip is gloomy and the fact that there is actually no regime is eve more saddening, if there was a stable and reliable regime in power, one that could really rule and control the civilians, I think we would have had peace long ago, but, as it seems, at least the people who are currently in power in both the Gaza strip and the West Bank are not interested in such a situation, I think the main reason is that apart from war and struggle those who are in power in both the West bank and the Gaza strip do not have anything to offer their followers. One needs to understand that the driving force of militants is hate, hate towards whole nations and countries, until those who spread hate vanish from the political scene, I ‘m afraid there will be no resolution to the suffering and struggle for those people.

Now I would like to refer to the main part of Sara’s post about religion and holy people and of course what they do in the name of religion. It is well know for quite some time now that some religious people at power are abusing the reputation and power of religion and of holy men and women which took time to build through the ages. The fact that people sell holy items or supposedly holy items almost in every corner of a holy location, and it doesn’t really matter what religion.

For example, as a Jew, I can tell you about people selling candles in various religious locations here in Israel at very high prices just because there is no way to get them nearby.

With all that said, I think religion is personal, no one can tell you what is the right way to believe, what are the right thoughts to think, and which is the right path to follow, most of it is your choice. Don’t be diverted from your path because some strays think of how to make money from faith, if you believe, do it your own way, it’s not about following the right religious leader or visiting the right church or synagogue or what ever temple you worship in, it’s about doing what make you feel good and what feels right.

    A Great Saturday Morning! 16.1.2010

    PDF Version

    PDF Version

Well, it couldn’t come out nicer if i planned it, the sun is shining on a January winter morning, I took my daughter out to the fields and we had a lot of fun (even saw a couple of foxes which my dog started running after), and the bets of all is – now news!!! no news is good news thats what I say…
Although this Blog is about news and opinions I prefer to tell stories I know about Israel then to give my opinion on Israeli news, however, of course, everyone here are following latest events from Haiti and the horrible stories arriving from there, there is even a fund raiser here in Israel raising money to help Haitian people struck by this catastrophe and everyone here are really sensitive about it.

Another thing I would really like to share with my readers is a TV show I have watched early this morning, The show described the process and outcome of the Monty Python Group movie: “The Life of Brian”.
For those of you who haven’t seen it yet it’s a great comedy about religion, politics,Terror described through A parody on Jesus Christs story. In the show, The Monty Python group tell about difficulties and hatered and in some places even banning the movie and all of those who took part in the making. The movie was out in 1978 and is now considerd a cult movie and a must for everyone who loves a good laugh, with that said, The parts in the movie I would like to talk about are the ones related to religion and religion fanatics especially, although one watching the movie may miss it, Here’s how it goes:
When Jesus have his followers running after him trying to get his blessing he is running away from them trying to explain he is not the messiah, then you hear people in the crowd shouting: “He must be the messiah – he is modest!” , Brian (Jesus) then keeps running away when he stumbles and falls, and his left shoe falls off, he does’nt look back and keeps running, the crowd reaches the shoe and they start screaming: “A sign – everybody take off you shoes…” another person shouting: “Not both shoes just one!” and another shouts: “No just one shoe – the left shoe” and it keeps going…

The above segment from the movie describes in my eyes how religious fanatics are made, someone who thinks they know what they are doing\saying says something and there will always be fools that follow (I am talking about specific things of course not a whole religion god forbid – there is no disrespect here) lets look at fanatics in our time:
Some guy claims he knows the the quraan better then everone else and claims that the Quraan says that anyone carrying a bomb into a crown of innocent people get 72 virgins in heaven…
Well I am quite sure god has a logic way of thinking and I think that there are 72 virgins but I doubt about their gender being female, I think that whoever sets out to be a suicide bomber gets blown to pieces and even if he gets 720 virgins I am positive he wouldn’t be able to do anything with them (*wink).
