Good Morning Israel 15.1.2010

In these past couple of days I have done thinking, maybe there’s more then meets the eye? May world events are not as arbitrary as one would think?

The Haiti Earthquake disaster is indeed an unfortunate event, but it got me thinking about what this world is all about.

Here we are fighting over land, and territory, fighting over resources and over religions while it is all insignificant. The earth moves a bit and we are helpless. All our weapons and technology, all the sophisticated machines we have are helpless in the face of nature. When such a disaster strikes the only thing that matters is how much we care for each other as human beings, how ready are we to help one another in the face of a catastrophe, and the answer is not as straight forward as one may think.

See, if a disaster such as the Haiti earthquake would strike Israel I am quite sure many nations would be actually happy, not knowing such a disaster makes no distinction between religions, races or any other characteristics of human behavior or origin, It will not be “the hand of god” or any other hand and the fact that some people, often with hidden agendas, take advantage of a catastrophe in a cynic manner is repulsive in my eyes. Any human being making a profit, be it economic, political or publicity gains, is not a human being.

Before we continue’ here are some images from this morening in Israel:

And now to today’s highlights in the news and, of course, what I think of them:

  • A.B. Nathan’s daughter has been tracked in Haiti and she is safe and well.
A.B Nathan is one of the most important historic figures of our time, in my eyes anyway. The man was a irreparable peace maker until his last day and I think that even if it’s just to remind his name’ this news item is worth mentioning.

  • Militants in Gaza have agreed not to fire rockets for a while
Translation – “Militants in Gaza don’t want to make Israel too angry by launching too many rockets in a short period of time” It is always the same thing all over again, they fire just enough rockets to make innocent civilians suffer but not enough for a counter strike from the IDF as if one rocket is different then 10. But it is calming to know that the IDF still scares the **** out of the Hamas and other militant groups in the Gaza strip enough so that they declare it on the news.

  • Prank – The street signs of several major streets in Tel Aviv were replaced with names of reality TV shows stars.
This is hilarious, I guess it’s some kind of protest regarding how famous and how much influence the media is in our days. The ,most famous street sign replaced were Alenbi which was replaced to “Shifra Korenfeld ST.” which was the winner of the first season of the TV show “The big brother”, Sheinkin St. became “Yosef Bublil St.” also a contestant in the “Big Brother” show, King George St. was changed to Dan Mano St. which was the winner of Surrvival in Israel.
All this was done last night and today being friday made a hell of a mess in Down town Tel Aviv!

This morning in Israel 14.1.2010

Today I would like to deviate from my regular habit of telling you about local news related to Israel and what I think about them and tell you about just one story.

There is this guy that has been on the news for many times now, his name is Goel Ratzon. This guy managed to convice 17 women to be his wives and their 40 children with religious excuses and god knows what. Today the Israeli police has arrested him in charge of child molesting and some other charges which I don’t really care for, but this guy if the charges are ture, has managed to keep this thing quiet for many years imagine what happened to those kids! I am completely shocked only from reading the news update let alone think about what this guy did.

I cannot understand a woman living with a guy which has 16 other women to satisfy and care for, how did they all live? what did they eat?

The guy is currently under investigation and the whole case may not proceed and maybe he did not do any sexual violations but keeping 17 wives is, in my eyes, a violation. how can one be father to 40 children?

Well, in any case, we’ll leave it to the police and start our morning in the normal way.

here are some pictures from this morning in Israel:

The air is clear, morning dew is all over and I was walking my dog through the fields so I had to share my feeling with you guys. all in all I think it’s going to be a good day. it’s Thursday and the week end is approaching quickly, the Sabbath Dinner tommorow night and the two days of Movie watching and laying on the coush with the family is a really calming thought.

Have a great day!

Wednesday morning in Israel 13.1.2010

Well nothing much is happening, again the settlers and the Palestinians found something new to fight about which is quite funny, these guys can really fight about anything! this time its a stream…

Not the kind of stream you know from the Internet or any other significant kind of stream this time its a water stream….

To me it sound like a story from the bible and not from the 21st century, but for some people, I guess, a stream of water is worth fighting for. I can’t imagine the reason for both sides wanting this stream so much, when I need water I just go to the my kitchen or bathroom and open the tap, it’s simple, maybe someone ought to teach both sides how to turn on the water in the kitchen and they will understand that a stream of water is not worth fighting about.

before I continue with my additional insights, I would like to show you, as I always do, some photos of this beautiful morning in Israel:

Another story that made the news in the past couple of days is the Turkish ambassador to Israel being reproached by the secretary of foreign affairs in Israel for his government allowing a local Turkish TV station to broadcast a TV series with clear antisemitism messages. Of course the Palestinian parliament members showed their public objection to the act but just to remind everyone…a couple of weeks ago there was a commercial broadcast in the Israeli TV for the Cellcom cellular provider in Israel which showed IDF soldiers playing football across the border (the famous wall of separation) with unseen Palestinians, and those same Palestinian Parliament members raised hell just for a commercial.

The Turkish TV series broadcast on the Turkish TV has presented Jews in a very bad manner and characteristics and I suspect no enlightened country would allow a TV station on it’s ground to broadcast such a show let alone a whole series, so I wonder what are the Palestinian parliament members saying really? is it OK to broadcast such a series? if so, can we make such a series about Palestinian (or maybe Muslims) and send Anti-Muslim messages? what will their reaction be? will they accept it or raise hell and (try) and recruit their everyone they can to remove such a show?

In any case, diplomatic issues like this one are the cause for conflicts and in my eyes (not as a Jew but as a person with high moral standards) any offending media should be prohibited. Just as you wouldn’t let a newspaper write in an offending manner about a person or company the same goes a thousand time for a whole nation.

Have a great day!
