10 years for WTC terror attack

After 10 years, countless stories, a number of books and several movies which all focus on the WTC terror attack, the world still mourns the death of innocent Americans by Islamic terrorists.

10 years later, I can still remember exactly where I was and what I was doing at the time. It was as if the world stood still, people stopped in the middle of the road in Israel’s main highway trying to get any piece of information trying to understand if what they just heard on the radio was a hoax or not.
No one really believed that the world trade center is no longer there, no one could even picture the Manhattan skyline without those 2 proud building standing out of the line of sky scrapers.

10 years later we still cant grasp the hatred a person must feel in order to perform such a terrorist act, making so many people miserable, so many wives widows, so many children orphans and so many people afraid to move around in the land of opportunities.

Peace talks? Where?

Israel prime minister Mr. Binyamin Netanyahu agreed to have direct peace talks with the Palestinian Authority, in CNN there is a nicely written article about the issue trying to view it from an optimistic point of view although it is written as if there is no hope of success.

Here are a couple of reasons why these negotiations will be futile:

Nobody even noticed there are scheduled peace talks.

In the Oslo talks, Madrid talks and almost any other peace talks, things heated up to a boiling point – at least here in Israel. The newspapers wrote about it weeks before it began, Television delayed other shows to make to for commentators and political advisors in special TV shows.

Until yesterday, a day after the announcement was made, the local newspapers did not even mention the issue in the front page, other issues are apparently more interesting.

From what I understand, the Palestinians are no better press wise.

The Palestinians layout demands before the process even starts.

This have always been a fail point for negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, Israel will not agree to anything prior to sitting at the negotiations tables, even more so when the Palestinians keep firing rockets and missiles on Israeli cities and “Demand” that Israel will extend the moratorium regarding building at the settlements as if this is the only thing stopping them from making peace.

And the most important reason:

The Palestinians don’t want peace! – I am not talking about people on the street, I am quite sure that there are many that do, but the politicians – i.e. the hamas, and Islamic Jihad and their leaders are quite happy with how things are. The can always blame Israel for the poverty, lack of food, lack of basic services to people and in fact – everything bad, while they do they incite their people against Israel, the Palestinians believe their leaders and keep voting for them and the wheel goes round.

If there is no war with Israel, there is no reason for the Hamas or Islamic Jihad to exist now is there?

Thats the main reason why peace will never make the middle east it’s home, in countries where militants rule and the masses go after them like a herd of sheep “in the name of allah” there can never be peace.

If I was Mr. Netanyahu – I would decline and not go to any peace talks – until the Palestinians show real sincere intent for making peace. In other words – Show Me you Wanna make peace of STOP wasting my time

FaceBook Poker

I am playing facebook poker for a while now and I quite enjoyed it until recently when when facebook zynga poker (that’s the name of the game on facebook) decided to allow users to “buy” flags for show next to their name. Naturally, being Israeli I bought the Israeli flag, and every since I keep getting cursed, and suffer antisemitism remarks from other players – not only Arab and Muslim players.
Now, I understand racist remarks from Arabs and Muslims, they are all war mongers and wish to fight and incite, what I don’t understand is non-Muslims harassing me and my fellow Israelis.
Racist European not understanding that Europe is now almost completely Muslim and that future generations in Europe will probably be Muslims, their sons and daughters will have vails or hidjab or whatever they are called.
Maybe Europe is waiting for it’s next bombing done by Muslims to wake up and smell the roses, I just hope they wont do it from 6 feet under.
I guess Many Europeans and some Americans are just cowards, they go with the herd, afraid that if one day Islam will be in power, they will loose something.
To those people I say – selling your should for rumors and talking without really knowing all the fact, like one of them told me I should be ashamed of my country because we conquered other countries, I guess he also thinks that we drive camels rather then cars.
In any case, at first I ignored such dumb people, but I decided to answer back in the name of my people and my country whom I love.

Israel’s Military Chief questioned

The questions themselves on this inquiry seem to me a bit comic. “were passenger shot at close range?”, “did you have enough intel?”, In my eyes Israel shouldnt even be taking part of this investigation – we are only doing it to show the world we did nothing wrong, but I guess arabs control public opinion around the globe Because they are everywhere now, Europe is practically Muslim, and the rest are afraid they won’t get their precious oil.

The Flotilla and the rest of the convoy should thank the IDF for not blowing them out of the water as it should have done. Violating a naval blockade and a country’s territory will do that to you, but Israel’s gentle approach towards terrorists risks Israeli soldiers so that less people die.

Imagine an Israeli aid ship delivering humanitarian goods to Jews in Iran, what do you imagine the Iranian army do if an Israeli ship will get close to it’s shores? Commandos? Negotiations?

I’ll tell you what – a land-to-sea missile with a huge warhead on it to blow that ship to pieces.

But when it comes to Israel – we are guilty before we even do anything, that is why I think this investigation is nothing but an act put on to show Arabs the world cares when in fact, most Christians and other non-Muslim people would like nothing more then to kick all the Muslims back to their Arab countries.

How rude can you get?

Reviewing my website statistics I have come to learn there was an innocent (probably) internet user who searched google for the term “Hizbollah daily update” ( I didn’t know such an update esists) and clicked the Israel Now website on the google results page. I mean what more can do you say to a person like that? Isn’t the title “Israel Now” enough to make you understand that if you will find an update regarding Hizbollah it won;t be what your looking for!

Maybe I should put a sign or change my website’s name to something easier for such people to understand, maybe I should call it “Pro-Israel-Anti-Hizbollah NOW” maybe that will keep such users away from the website.

Ohh… I forgot to mention, I got a bunch of comments with some nice “blessing” from that guy…. of course I have deleted them all, but I guess that is the exact reason such users enter the Israel-Now website.

No News is good news?

This is the first time for a long time that I have entered the CNN “Middle east” section and there was no new story or article.

We are used to the status quo which is that our region is always full of news, be it statements by nation or religious leaders, or a bombing event or any other terrorist issue, but today – all is quiet which is kind of weird if you think of it with all the latest ship convoys and missile attacks, it seems like the militants have laid down their weapons as if saying “we will allow you a grace Friday…” on the news here in Israel there is not much going on as well, everything is pretty ordinary and maybe things are changing or maybe people are too tired to tell stories or maybe it’s merely an oman of things to come.

Either way I really do hope this peace and quiet to persist, it is nice to have a calm weekend without having to follow current events on the television or radio.

Friday morning January 2010

The morning started beautifully, The sun is shining it’s 26 degrees (Celsius) and the weather is just shouting “Go outside”!

Great news about the Kinneret (lake Galilee)  which added 90 cm  to it’s current level of water due to the recent rains we had this week, and Hermon snow skiing site is now open for skiers for the first time this season as the snow fall in the past week is sufficient for snow skiing.

Daily update 22.1.2010

PDF Version

PDF Version

I know I did not write any daily updates the past couple of days and it’s not that I did not have anything to write about, it’s just that much to my dismay, I did not have the time to write anything which will respect my readers as opposed to just writing something.

Well, not much has happened this past couple of days, but on the news there have been a lot of updates.

Mr. Abu Mazen said today that the Israeli prime minister Mr. Bibi Netanyahu, and the Israeli’s government terms for the peace process are failing the negotiaions before they start. Well I have couple of things to say, first and foremost, what peace process? I think the Israeli people have accepted the situation in our region and no one even thinks of a true peace process (no one I know anyway) as a possibility, the Palestinians (and not only them) have done everything they can with the camouflage of terrorist organizations such as the Hamas and islamic Jihad etc. and they expect to negotiate?

Second of all, the term that Mr. Netanyahu is setting are not so far fetched, Israel is free to built on it’s lands, until decided otherwise, the settlements are Israeli land and I don’t see any reason to stop building there,

Third, the negotiations of the past did not succeed for a reason, there is no reason for any government to continue a process which failed, in addition, things change in time, and current events raised suspicion and doubt in the Israeli public so I really do think our agenda and term have changed and will not agree to continue the negotiations that took place years ago.

Fourth, Jerusalem is part of the state of israel, there will be no negotiation about Jerusalem, not now not ever, the sooner the Palestinians (and everyone) understand it the better negotiations outcome will be.

Is is quite funny to me how politicians “play” games with each other like little kids, how they say things like “it’s not us, it’s the big bad terrorists” when it’s obvious who’s doing what in who’s name, but the political game keeps playing and people have to keep playing it, the only ones suffering from this situation are us, the citizens of the world.

If it was up to me, I would simply say, I know what you are doing and I know what are your intentions, I don’t have to prove anything to anyone and I care only for my people, either you stop doing it or I will act as I see fit.

A good example is the “second Lebanon war” the Gizbollah was firing rockets at Israel, but the Lebanese government said “it’s not us it’s those terrorists the Hizbollah…” well I would say something like: Lebanon is a country, what ever happens in your country is your problem, but when something happens in your country such as rockets firing towards my country you got two options:

  1. you take control over who ever is firing the rockets and stop them.

  2. I will take care of those firing the rockets for you and I will make sure by any means necessary that no more rockets are fired towards my country.

Imagine what would happen if Mexico was to fire rockets the US, what would the Americans do? Would they care that “it’s not the mexican people of the Mexican government it’s terrorists”? I think not, I think the US will react with full force and destroy northern Mexico completely to make sure no more rockets are fired.

But that’s us, Israel, we care too much about people who don’t really care about anyone, not even their own people.

Evening update 17.1.2010

Well Today as you may have noticed I did not have the time to write a morning update so I am not avoiding my duties and today’s update will be an evening update.

A rather stormy evening here in Israel (21C is cold here ;) ) a bit of rain, lots of wind and the wind chimes outside are making that beautiful music….God I love winter time!

Before the news – here are some photos from today:

On to the news and of course – my thoughts!

An article on an Israeli website (quite a respectable one might I add…) says “Turkey is getting closer to Iran in it’s policy then to Israel” which is supposedly quoted by a high ranking security source. Here’s what I think: Whats new? It’s been there the whole time, we just didn’t want to see it. Not to suggest Turkey is walking in Iran’s path but I have always felt the people on the street are not so fond of the west and Israel especially, you’d have to be stupid to think otherwise after an Israeli basketball team was almost lynched on the basketball court in Turkey while the IDF was fighting the terrorists in the Gaza strip.

That’s exactly the difference between ignorant people and enlightened people (not suggesting neither is ignorant) ignorant people don’t think – they act believing their acts will improve things, enlightened people think of the consequences before they act in order to benefit as much as possible from any situation – even the worse ones.

One more thing to admire: The pope Benedictus the 16th has visited the great synagogue in Rome in his ongoing efforts to get Jewish and Catholics together. I think if more people especially religious people would act like the pope, this world would really be a better place to live in, what have we fot if not each other? Say a disaster strikes (such as the one we witness in Haiti these days, do you think anyone will care what religion you are if you help them? That’s the whole point of religion, to be a better person, to help other people and not take life for granted for everything everywhere has its purpose!

A Great Saturday Morning! 16.1.2010

PDF Version

PDF Version

Well, it couldn’t come out nicer if i planned it, the sun is shining on a January winter morning, I took my daughter out to the fields and we had a lot of fun (even saw a couple of foxes which my dog started running after), and the bets of all is – now news!!! no news is good news thats what I say…
Although this Blog is about news and opinions I prefer to tell stories I know about Israel then to give my opinion on Israeli news, however, of course, everyone here are following latest events from Haiti and the horrible stories arriving from there, there is even a fund raiser here in Israel raising money to help Haitian people struck by this catastrophe and everyone here are really sensitive about it.

Another thing I would really like to share with my readers is a TV show I have watched early this morning, The show described the process and outcome of the Monty Python Group movie: “The Life of Brian”.
For those of you who haven’t seen it yet it’s a great comedy about religion, politics,Terror described through A parody on Jesus Christs story. In the show, The Monty Python group tell about difficulties and hatered and in some places even banning the movie and all of those who took part in the making. The movie was out in 1978 and is now considerd a cult movie and a must for everyone who loves a good laugh, with that said, The parts in the movie I would like to talk about are the ones related to religion and religion fanatics especially, although one watching the movie may miss it, Here’s how it goes:
When Jesus have his followers running after him trying to get his blessing he is running away from them trying to explain he is not the messiah, then you hear people in the crowd shouting: “He must be the messiah – he is modest!” , Brian (Jesus) then keeps running away when he stumbles and falls, and his left shoe falls off, he does’nt look back and keeps running, the crowd reaches the shoe and they start screaming: “A sign – everybody take off you shoes…” another person shouting: “Not both shoes just one!” and another shouts: “No just one shoe – the left shoe” and it keeps going…

The above segment from the movie describes in my eyes how religious fanatics are made, someone who thinks they know what they are doing\saying says something and there will always be fools that follow (I am talking about specific things of course not a whole religion god forbid – there is no disrespect here) lets look at fanatics in our time:
Some guy claims he knows the the quraan better then everone else and claims that the Quraan says that anyone carrying a bomb into a crown of innocent people get 72 virgins in heaven…
Well I am quite sure god has a logic way of thinking and I think that there are 72 virgins but I doubt about their gender being female, I think that whoever sets out to be a suicide bomber gets blown to pieces and even if he gets 720 virgins I am positive he wouldn’t be able to do anything with them (*wink).
